Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Getting Started with Therapy

How do I schedule an appointment?

Before we begin, we’ll start with a Goodness of Fit call—a short consultation to see if we’re a good match. If we decide to move forward, all appointments are scheduled directly through me via email or phone.

Are sessions in person or online?

All sessions are conducted online via secure telehealth. This allows you to attend therapy from the comfort of your home, without the stress of driving and parking.

How long are sessions?

  • The initial evaluation may take a little longer than a standard session.

  • Ongoing therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long.

How often will we meet?

It depends on your needs. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions, and we adjust as needed. Some issues can be addressed quickly, while others may require longer-term support.

What is your approach to therapy?

First and foremost, I focus on making sure you feel comfortable and understood.

  • We’ll gather some background information, but we won’t get bogged down in mundane details.

  • Together, we’ll identify your goals and define what progress looks like.

  • We’ll explore different therapeutic techniques based on what works best for you.

  • Throughout treatment, we’ll adjust and refine our approach to make sure therapy is helping you in the way you need.

I use evidence-based interventions backed by research, but I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy with me is tailored to you—some clients resolve their concerns in a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term support.

Payments & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?

YES!  I accept:
✅ BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) for Illinois residents and some state BCBS plans that reimburse for telehealth.
✅ Medicare for Illinois residents (Traditional Medicare, NOT Advantage Medicare)

If you’re outside Illinois, check with your insurance provider to see if they cover telehealth therapy with an out-of-state provider.

What if you’re out-of-network (OON) with my insurance?

I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many clients successfully get reimbursed this way.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept:
💳 Zelle and credit cards for self-pay and copays
💳 HSA credit and debit cards
